What is a brag book and how can it help your interview success?

By:  Peggy McKee

A brag book is a folder/ binder that you can use during your interview process to clarify your skill sets and set you apart from the competition so that you can get a job offer in medical sales, laboratory sales, pharmaceutical sales, clinical diagnostics sales, DNA products sales, cellular sales, molecular sales, medical equipment sales, medical device sales, hospital equipment sales, surgical supplies sales, or any healthcare sales.

Video Resume Lady Speaks

Key Points:
- Nancy's site offers online video editing tools
- it allows you to embed an edited audio or video clip in a standard resume
- it gives the resume a unique web address

Nancy says that no other video resume website offers this technology. There are other online mutli-media resume sites. However I haven't seen any that offer online video editing tools, as well.

PHC Consulting's YouTube Channel: Job Candidate's Survival Guide

By Peggy McKee:

In my constant quest to get the word out about PHC Consulting’s top-of-the-line recruiting and employment opportunities in all areas of medical sales, I started a blog.  And the blog was good.

I've covered information relevant to all aspects of job searching, interviewing, networking, and sales training for pharmaceutical sales, laboratory sales, clinical diagnostics sales, cellular/molecular products sales, medical equipment and supplies sales.

That kind of information has been popular, and it has increased traffic to my site from about 50 hits a week to about 500 a day.  And then I found YouTube.  I started encapsulating my nuggets of wisdom into a video format and posted them, and had over 11,000 views on my channel in the first 4 months.  Needless to say, I am thrilled with the response.

Here’s a summary of what’s currently available:

Steve Rothberg Discusses Facebook

Steve Rothberg - Recruiting Animal Show
Facebook allows a recruiter to tap into the network of good employees to find other people like them.

Soon, Facebook will allow you to send highly targeted recruiting ads to its members.

Facebook will not replace job boards. Job boards will pay the pay per click fees to lure people from Facebook into their databases where employers can see them. This is cheaper than having each employer do so herself.

Bill Vick Interviews Shally Elvis Steckerl

Shally Elvis Steckerl - Recruiting Animal Show
Recruiters who want to be on the edge waste a lot of time working with tools that are going to be the real deal in the future.

Every year there is a hot new technology that promises to deliver passive candidates to your doorstep.

Monster is a proven resource. Linkedin makes people tons of money. But most recruiters don't know how to use any kind of database search engine well.

Shally doesn't recommend long search strings. He recommends a search that takes ten minutes or less.

Shally claims no contact manager is robust enough to handle the hundreds of thousands of contacts recruiters must have to do their jobs well.

Phone Fear

BASE jumping: you parachute from a high place wearing a wingsuit which allows you to fly. The suit gives you webbing between your arms and legs similar to that of a flying squirrel. It is also called a birdman suit.

This is an incredible video of a man flying through a valley in a base jump. I've never seen anything like it. (Click on incredible video to see a larger view)

Dave Staats Interviewed by Bill Vick

Well worth watching says The Recruiting Animal.

Here are a few of the ideas presented:

He was taught to build relationships and after 22 years in business still has relationships with with people he met in the first two years.

He has two specialty areas and finds that recruiting helps him live in a happy world. The candidate and company are happy and he never has to talk to the company he recruits people from. (What about the candidates he rejects?)

The Raw Side of Recruiting at ERE

Did you know that Joel and Penelope shop for panties together at Victoria's Secret? Or that a woman can be more vulgar onstage than a man? That's a surprise, isn't it? But this little video, shot in a hotel hallway, contains a lot of "raw" secrets from ERE.
