@salesrecruiter (that's me) made the list! - 25 Most Influential Recruiters on Twitter

By Peggy McKee

Jason from The Talent Buzz posted this January 11. I love Twitter, and it's an honor to be included with the other great recruiters on this list. Thanks, Jason!

It’s hard to believe it has been almost 2 years since my first tweet. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people inside and outside of my industry and profession, and publish a few blog posts on the topic. A few examples include:
  • Using Twitter to Recruit, Find a Job, or Network
  • Using Twitter to Network and Find a Job
  • Recruiting, Social Media, and Friends. Twitter Rocks!
Looking back the growth of twitter has been astounding. In April of 2009, there were 1.5 billion tweets. 9 months later (as I write this) there are 7.6 billion tweets and counting. Last February (2009) there were 900 profiles with the word “recruiter”. Fast forward 2 months to April and it grew to 3,900. Today there are 10,372! There are also over 15,000 social media “experts” in case you hadn’t heard… So with over 10,000 people with the word recruiter in their profile, who should you follow?

follow-on-twitter

I would start with the 25 most influential recruiters on twitter, according to wefollow. They include:
  1. Shally Steckerl - @shally
  2. Irina Shamaeva - @braingain
  3. Glen Cathey - @BooleanBlackBlt
  4. AIRS - @AIRSTraining
  5. Steven Rothberg - @StevenRothberg
  6. Jennifer McClure - @CincyRecruiter
  7. Jerry Albright - @Jerry_Albright
  8. Geoff Peterson - @GeoffPeterson
  9. Stephanie Lloyd - @StephanieALloyd
  10. Paul DeBettignies - @MNHeadhunter
  11. Craig Fisher - @Fishdogs
  12. Michael Long - @theredrecruiter
  13. Ryan Leary - @ryanleary
  14. Jim Durbin - @smheadhunter
  15. Shannon Myers - @slcmyers
  16. Sarah Peacey - @RecruitingTruth
  17. Nikki G - @Recruitnik
  18. Todd Kmiec - @toddkmiec
  19. Dawn Mular - @DMular
  20. Jeff Lipschultz - @JLipschultz
  21. Rick Deare - @RickDeare
  22. Peggy McKee - @salesrecruiter
  23. Bruce - @RecruiterBruce
  24. David Graziano - @DavidGraziano
  25. Darryl Dioso - @DarrylRMSG
Sure, one could argue the other 9,000 recruiters haven’t registered their profile on wefollow (that’s their fault) or have chosen a different tag than recruiter. Either way, you’ll be in great company with these 25 tweeps.

3 Reasons Why LinkedIn is NOT the Only Resource for Job Seekers

By Joshua Waldman

Of late, there have been more and more stories of people finding work through LinkedIn. In fact, most recruiters I talk to say they are actively seeking candidates through keyword searches on LinkedIn.

So why would a job seeker look anywhere else for their online networking? I think there are 3 reasons why it is a bad idea to corner yourself, as a job seeker, to just LinkedIn.

Simple Intro, LinkedIn

By The Recruiting Animal

What is LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a huge database of professional profiles. Recruiters use it a lot - a lot - so it makes sense to have your profile there.

Are Recruiters Violating Privacy By Digging Deep?

By Richard Becker

"Recruiters shouldn’t care about that Facebook picture of your beer pong game in college." — Shel Holtz, ABC, principal of Holtz Communication + Technology.

Holtz calls the increasing shift toward total transparency a cultural transition, spurred on by social media. And, as a consequence, "Animal House [by Millennials] behavior really shouldn’t matter to hiring managers today."

The communication has sparked an interesting conversation, with Jen Zingheim, Media Bullseye, wondering if "Millenials are perhaps setting themselves up for future problems, because it's hard to put that privacy genie back in the bottle." At the same time, she recognizes that she came from a different era, one that celebrated the separation of professional and personal, work and play.

Social Media at Work

by The Recruiting Animal

Many companies are blocking access to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. They don't want employees fooling around.

Matt Alder insists that social media must be part of daily business practice.

Why?

Trying to measure the ROI of social media is stupid

By Stephanie A Lloyd

Recently I was talking conspiring with my friend Chad Rothschild and he brought up the fact that every CMO or Marketing Director he talks to about social media wants an ROI they can take back to their boss in order to justify the investment.

He asked me how I respond to these requests.

Several months ago Tim Walker tweeted from a summit he was attending and I remember seeing this tweet and replying to him in agreement.

How much is a Social Media job worth?

By Sarah White,  HR Technology Blog blogger & Chief Strategy Officer at HRMDirect

Lets face it, for a lot of us – we use social media on a regular basis.  Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Myspace, Blogs and a number of others is part of a HR/Recruiting Industry pro’s life.

We use social networks to not only recruit – but to retain, onboard and market to the world around us – but have you ever wondered just how much that part of your job is “worth?”

Microsoft Atomic Wedgie Heard Around the World!

Blog post Michael Glenn via Glennlist.com

The Atomic Wedgie is the mother of all schoolyard wedgies. Your underwear is practically yanked up over your head. It’s not funny if you are on the receiving end of it. And that is what Microsoft has recently done to Google.

Facebook was the beneficiary of billions of dollars from Microsoft. They got cold hard cash to not give themselves over to Google, and in return they push the Microsoft search engine on the site.

Google’s comeback to Microsoft’s Atomic Wedgie?? Drum roll please.

If You Remember One Thing, Remember ToRead.

Another Blog post from Glennlist (Michael Glenn)

I know I’m going to lose a few buddies right out the gate when I say this, but women can kick our ass when it comes to remembering things. It’s true. Research has shown women are able to dig stuff up from the vault and dish it out in a nano second. Us guys struggle to remember what happened last night.

But if you’re on Twitter, you know there is a crap load of links that are thrown your way daily. How many times have you clicked on those links and tried to remember where they were later.

Your troubles are over my friend. You need to download ToRead.cc
